Dear Friends,
Three years ago, I ran for City Council and won with your strong support. That race was about our frustration with the direction of the City over more than ten years. I committed to run to stop the slow mansionization of our village and neighborhoods, protect Aliso Canyon and the creek, provide for a greener and less parking-intensive Village Entrance, and expand protection of our wilderness and open space areas. As a member of the City Council, I have voted against homes incompatible with their neighborhoods and worked to limit the impacts of late-night businesses on our quality of life, helped stop the concrete destruction of Aliso Creek by the Army Corps of Engineers, and supported increased open space acquisitions, both in the Greenbelt and on our hillsides in town. I also worked to improve our ocean water quality, including the designation of most of the Laguna Beach coastline as a protected marine reserve, find workable solutions to decrease Laguna Canyon and downtown flooding, preserve our historic buildings, support our artists and arts organizations, and make our City more livable and sustainable.
I am starting my campaign now to get ready for the 2012 race. As I did three years ago, I am asking for your support. Many of you helped in my 2008 campaign. I’m inviting you to join me at my first fundraiser at the home of Kathy and Mike Conway on Lombardy Lane on September 25, 2011. With your help, it will start to build the resources we’ll need next year!
Now more than ever, our City needs responsible, informed leadership that listens to its citizens. Please join me in this 2012 race for City Council. Help me send a message! Together, we can continue to make a difference for Laguna!
Sincerely,
Verna Rollinger
